Brahm Vasudev, MD
President TPIO
Dr. Brahm Vasudev is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is the fellowship director of the transplant nephrology fellowship training program. He completed his medical school from AFMC, University of Pune in India, Residency & Chief Residency in Internal Medicine followed by fellowships in Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology and Transplant Nephrology. He served on the DTAC UNOS committee and has given numerous regional, national and international talks on kidney transplantation. He is a clinical educator and actively involved in the education of medical students, residents and fellows and has won numerous teaching awards at MCW. He has been actively involved in various clinical trials and his clinical interests focus on polyoma virus infection, cancer after kidney transplantation and long-term kidney transplant survival and has published numerous articles and written book chapters on these topics.

Sundaram Hariharan, MD

Sundaram Hariharan is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. His research interest is in the field of kidney transplantation. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on various topics such as: Recurrent and De novo Diseases after renal transplantation, Long-term Kidney Transplant Survival, Surrogate Markers for Renal Transplant Outcome and BKV infection after Renal Transplantation. Over the past decade his research interest has been on identification, pathogenesis and treatment of sub-clinical acute T-Cell Mediated Rejection and Sub-clinical inflammation in renal transplant recipients with a goal of treating them and improving long-term allograft survival. In 2021 he published an important review article in NEJM titled “Long-term Survival After Kidney Transplantation”. He is currently working as a medical officer in the Division of Rheumatology and Transplant Medicine at the US – Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER).

Deepak Mital, MD, MBA, FACS, FRCS
Board Member
Deepak Mital, MD, MBA, FACS, FRCS is Clinical Professor of Transplant Surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He was the Founding Director of Advocate Christ Medical Center’s Renal Transplant Program in the Chicago suburbs. He moved there in late 2008 from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago. As Associate Professor, he was Director of Pancreas Transplantation at Rush. Dr. Mital received transplant fellowship training at Albert Einstein Medical Center/Temple University in Philadelphia, and at Rush. His extensive experience includes islet cell transplant research, and steroid-free post-transplant immunosuppression. His surgical innovations include renal transplants without sutures, and microinvasive donor nephrectomy. Dr. Mital is on the Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, and the Advisory Council of Gift of Hope, the Organ Procurement Organization of Chicago. He has served on the Kidney and Patient Affairs Committees of the United Network of Organ Sharing. He was President of the Indian American Medical Association of Illinois in 2008, and is a Founding Board Member of TPIO.

Prakash Eswaran, PhD

Prakash Easwaran is a seasoned industry executive and brings along Corporate Executive Experience in both Business and Information Technology. In his career spanning 40 years, he has held Executive Management & Leadership positions at Global Corporations both in India and US. His main strengths are in the areas of providing strategic advisory to C- Level executives in enabling new Technology to adapt to changing business models, drive business outcomes and value. Since 2004, Prakash is with SAP America, Inc. and presently runs the Advisory Program as the Vice President in SAP’s Chief Customer Office. Prior to joining SAP, Prakash was the Corporate Officer at a large consulting company based in New Jersey. Prakash’s early business career involved, 20 years with Siemens in India, his last position being the Chief Manager for Supply Chain and Logistics. He holds a PhD in Technology (in Expert Systems- a branch of AI ) and BS (Engineering). His passion is in the area of Machine Learning with special focus on Deep Neural Networks and its applicability in the field of Medicine, as it applies to Imaging and Pattern Recognition with large clinical data sets.

Rohit Loomba, MD

Dr. Rohit Loomba is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, and Adjunct Professor in the Division of Epidemiology at University of California, San Diego. He is a leading expert in translational research and innovative clinical trial design in NAFLD and NASH. Dr. Loomba is the founding director of the UCSD NAFLD Translational Research Unit where his team is conducting cutting edge research in all aspects of NAFLD including non-invasive biomarkers, genetics, epidemiology, clinical trial design, imaging endpoints, and integrated OMICs using microbiome, metabolome and lipidome. Dr. Loomba is an elected member of the board of directors of the American Liver Foundation. He serves on the editorial board of several leading journals, and is the Associate Editor for Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, a leading journal in the field of Gastroenterology.

Sudha Tata, MD
Board Member
Dr. Sudha Tata is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Transplantation at Emory University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Madras Medical College in India in 1989, completed her residency at the University of Texas at Houston Medical Center in 1999, and completed her fellowship in transplant nephrology at Indiana University School of Medicine. She is a clinical educator and has been a member of the AST Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Training Accreditation Program Committee Member. She has had multiple leadership roles in the Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Origin Heritage board as well as the Institutional Boards at Emory University. She has received numerous awards during her career including the Nanette K Wenger Distinguished Service Award.
